Look who just blew into the office – Kaywinnit Lee Frye! Or Kaylee, as we like to call her around the Ship Works. The advance delivery of the first Little Damn Heroes Animated Maquettes – Shiny! starring our favorite Firefly engineer – arrived yesterday. This is our box of samples that proceeds the main shipment by a couple days.
We snapped a couple of shots for the QMx product page and I thought you’d like to see ‘em here, too. I know I’m talking about our own work, but I gotta say she came out better than even I expected – hand-painted resin statue with lots of nice detailing in the paint really brings Adam Levermore-Rich’s Little Damn Heroes design to life. And the packaging – also designed by Adam – is soooo shiny! Love that QMx logo pressed into the Styrofoam
The rest of the Kaylees – some 1,452 – should hit the fulfillment center on Tuesday, all ready to ship out on launch day this coming Wednesday. We’ll start taking orders at 12pm PDT on 10/15, but between us, if you’re interested in one of these, don’t delay: To the degree that pre-launch buzz is any kind of indicator, I don’t expect these’ll stick around very long.
I’m also assuming as loyal Core-Techs, you already subscribe to the QMx Insider newsletter. If you don’t, you might want to. Like, today. Seriously, you’ll be glad you did: http://insider.qmxonline.com.

Well,… what else can one say, but SHINY!
When is Mal going to be released?
Not entirely sure yet, but most likely in January.
*looks around the new place in Burbank, which is significantly smaller*
Andy, how am I suppose to fit all this stuff in here?
Okay, so you mean to tell me you really can’t find a way to make space for Kaylee to come live with you? I mean, furniture is highly overrated, after all.
I can afford this… I can’t afford this… I can afford this… I can’t afford this…
Gorrammit! It’s Kaylee! I’ve got to, mister!
This one’s going to live in my office; just in case of a bad day.
For the RPGers out there it would be cool to have even smaller pieces. (I’m thinking chess size pieces)
Meanwhile, this will do, just placed my order. While I was there I figured I’d grab the ship plans and a T-shirt too! I tried to guess at a promo code, guessed wrong:)
Christim – you need to subscribe to the QMx Insider! It really *pays* off.
I did, on the 14th. My *payoff* arrived a couple hours after I placed my order. I replied to the email to see if someone could do something. We’ll see, thanks!
So, I placed my order as soon as I could on Wednesday. I even paid with a REAL credit card AND used the promo code. I had to save all my pennies. WHEN DO I ACTUALLY GET MY KAYLEE !!! Not that I am impatient just excited.
Hey there Kaywinnit -
We’ve been utterly overwhelmed in the last few days with orders for Kaylee. I don’t think I’m divulging any state secrets by saying we’ve moved through more than 3/4 of the entire edition in 72 hours. We’ve had to bring in additional staff just to ensure everything gets out the door in a timely manner.
Depending on where you are, I think it’s safe to say most if not all the Kaylees ordered this week should arrive next week (overseas orders might take a bit longer).
When you get yours, please come back and let us know what you think!
Is the plan to make a maquette figure for each of the characters, or just a few?
The plan is to do at least one of each character, plus a couple of the villians. When we’re done, you should be able to act out most of your favorite Firefly episodes with the Little Damn Heroes
“you should be able to act out most of your favorite Firefly episodes with the Little Damn Heroes…”
…fighting dinosaurs for control of “This Land”.
got my kaylee yesterday! very nice! can’t wait for Mal!!
Number 270 arrived on my doorstep today. It was a little smaller than I envisioned, but that’s a good thing if they all are going to fit on a shelf someplace. Very well packaged and well made.
I’ll add that the “Made in China” stamped on the box surprised me at first but so much is made over there that I suppose it is to be expected.
I got to flip through the Serenity Blueprint Reference package and eyeball the Cerberus shirt. No disappointment with either of those either.
I’m looking forward to acquiring the rest of the Little Damn Heroes…keep ‘em coming, thanks!
