Wash is my Copilot

Heya Core-Techs, look what just arrived at our fulfillment center: The “Wash is my Copilot” license plate frame of Black Market Beagles fame!

We’ve redesigned the frame a bit, going to a durable polycarbonate with white lettering on black. We also cut the price – by 33% – to just $9.95. Because, you know, it shouldn’t cost you a lot to warn your fellow drivers you’re likely to pull a Crazy Ivan without warning. Consider it a safety tip.

Speaking of pimping your boat, l also wanted to thank you all for your thoughtful input on the Serenity Valley bumper sticker design. After carefully considering everyone’s comments and suggestions, we’ve decided to go with the three character design. I really enjoyed the interactive design process we tried out here and I definitely think you guys helped make this a better product. Expect to see us do more of that type of thing at the Ship Works in the future!

Speaking of the Ship Works, it’s clear from your responses and continued support that the FFSW is here to stay and is going to be about more than just our Serenity replica. But this has turned into such a great place for discussion, feedback and drool-baiting, I was wondering if you’d be interested in seeing some non-Serenity projects we’re working on here? Rest assured, the vast majority of what we’d cover on the Ship Works would continue to be Serenity-related. But from time-to-time, there might be some cool Stargate or Battlestar projects we could share.

So, what do you think? Interested?

Excellent idea! Fifefly/Serenity are still the best, but Babylon 5 was excellent as well. I would love to see some items from that show up here from time to time.

  2. Jim in St. Louis says:

Great looking frame Andy, and a great price too.

Yes, I would love to see other products that are in development here at FFSW, especially BSG stuff. I’m really looking forward to seeing your Classics of Sci-Fi section take off too. MARTIAN WAR MACHINE!

It was great fun participating in the Serenity Valley bumper sticker design. Working with the other Core-Techs and building on each others idea’s was great. As I’ve stated before, this kind of interaction with the customers is unprecedented. Looking forward to being able to do more of that in the future.

License plate frame looks great, almost makes me wish I drove!

Personally, I’d rather not have non-Serenity projects here, I chose to subscribe to this blog via RSS feed so I could see Firefly-related stuff, and I’m not interested in merchandise for other shows.

  4. I’m okay with other products showing up here. I’m enjoying learning some about the processes you guys use, and it’s great to be able to give some feedback and actually have someone listen. Thanks.

  5. Chris says:

Wow! This site is very nice. I love getting to interact with everyone; the bumper sticker was fun.

I like all of the “drool-baiting”.

    So what is next?

  6. john vaughan says:

does it come in motorcycle size? i mean i have cars to put it on but would love something like this for my bike.

  7. Btw – there’s a typo in the title of this article. It says “Wash IN my copilot.”

  8. admin says:

    No there isn’t.

  9. Sean Kennedy says:

I saw a silver one of these in the parking lot today.

  10. admin says:

That’s the original design. It was chromed plastic with black letters. The new design is more readable at a distance and it’s $5 cheaper ;-)

Definitely post other stuff as well. I would say most people enjoy the other shows as well as Serenity. Plus Zoic did the effects for Battlestar Galactica as well (and Serenity is visible in the first episode) so they’re pretty close.

  12. Hawkehunt says:

I’d love to see other stuff here, too.

By the way, does anyone happen to know if Australian numberplates happen to match up to US ones?

  13. Sean says:

This is great! Gimme one! No, two!

As for non-Serenity projects, if you’re not planning on the ratio of other v. Serenity getting even close to 1:1, then it’s fine by me. If you are, you may wish to consider creating other “shipyards” within this site (with separate rss feeds) so each fan may concentrate on their particular favourite(s) and still be able to peek at the other projects in this site.

    my 2 cents.

  14. keelhauler says:

I’ve always wanted to get one of these! I will be ordering two of them soon!

I agree with Sean. I’m happy to have other stuff discussed here on occasion, but definitely want the overwhelming focus to remain on Firefly/Serenity. Creating other ‘shipyards,’ as he says, might be a good idea too! I’d like to avoid a cluttered FFSW where I have to sift through lots on non-’verse stuff.

  15. Therese says:

I agree with Keelhauler and Sean. I don’t know how much effort goes into making a site as shiny as this one, but I’d prefer it stay primarily Firefly/Serenity based too.

    Adding my 2 cents.

  16. Ooh! I love this. Put me down for one, please.

Also, I agree with Keelhauler and Sean. However, I love Babylon 5 almost as much as Firefly/Serenity, and would love to see a Shipworks Boatyard dedicated to it.

As for the term ‘drool-bait’–ROTFLMAO! PERFECT term for everything you guys make. Because it is so very very drool-worthy. ^_^
