It was a long time coming, but I’m very happy to announce the first Serenity left the hanger earlier this week and is on her way to her new owner.
We thought on this happy occasion, we should share some new pics of our girl and a nice little YouTube video we created showing off the “Hard Burn” effect and the reactor “throb”. Lots and lots of time and effort have gone into getting her just right. Hopefully with these pics and the vid, you can see we’ve done everything in our power to make sure every ship that leaves our dock is as shiny as we can make her.
Speaking of shiny – you might notice a new feature we added since last we shared pictures – the galley windows are now lit! The more we looked at her, the more we couldn’t let her go without adding that last little detail.
We are now building Serenitys in earnest (check some of the build photos in the gallery below).
One last thing: We announced late last year that fellow Serenity licensee and Browncoat artist Jason Palmer had volunteered to create a limited edition art print to celebrate the launch of our girl. We’re very grateful that Jason lent his talent to our humble little project. Once again, Jason demonstrates the best thing about being a Browncoat is other Browncoats
In the gallery below we’ve included an image of Jason’s print. The only way to get this print is with The Big Damn Replica. Just another small way we’re making her special for the folks who invest in Serenity.

That looks amazing, the updated paint apps on the reactor flaps are 100x better then the initial images. Now I just got to wait for mine to fly out of the shipyard,
Now that’s a lot of ship bits. I think the one the tech is building is mine ;^) She looks fantastic Andy.

I count twenty engine cowlings and bridge/noses, so is that the entire first batch, or just one lot of several? :-]
Stephen – well, we work on them in lots of 20. So you could say it’s the first brood
Of course, not all 20 will make it through QA. Only the best get to leave the nest.
And why is it I can suddenly only speak in bird metaphors?
Andy, are there red lights in the main engine intakes, or is that paint?
NICE!!!!!
My wife and I just finished paying off our BDR two days ago. Can’t wait till ours is “under construction”.
Jim – I think that’s a little extra detailing they added to the paint master. Definitely not lit.
The addition of the lit bridge is a very nice touch. Mal casts a long shadow.
Did anyone catch that the control panels on the bridge consoles are actually *painted*? Those things are only millimeters wide!
I thought those were backlit panels. They look like the actual bridge displays. INSANE! Were you able to get any of Wash’s dino’s in there?
Evil, just evil!!!
*drools* It is so gorgeous!!
Funny, I was just saying to myself; “where is my ship?” Now I know! Can’t wait. Looks great!
Am I right in thinking that those who pre-ordered and paid in full on the day, will get them before anyone else, even if our edition number is a little high. Unless of course all of the first 100 or so paid in full on the day, in which case I’ll be after a few batches are done.
It’s now that the wait becomes painful, must be patient, must be patient…..
I would love to see more “assembly line” pics. Can you guys post any more? Maybe a video?
That is just an outstanding work of art. Bravo!
I’ve been confirmed at 089. Hopefully mine will be in the next couple o’ batches.
I have a question. Could the possiblity of the theme song be put into the model somehow?
Those pics are simply BEAUTIFUL! I so can’t wait to see my very own #051 BDR arrive! And Kenneth…I love your idea about the theme song. If QMx doesn’t do this then I’ll just pick-up a cheap MP3 player and pipe it in myself
OK, I wasn’t going to post anything until my BDR was in hand but, #30/1000 has broken atmo and is somewhere in the black between LA and STL. I will be exploring her in excruciating detail next week.
The wait is almost over!

Yours is shipping? Man, I haven’t received any word yet about my #19. I wonder what’s up.
So that’s at least another one that’s left the shipyard, congrads Jim. And of equal importance, it means mine is getting closer
Almost landed Jim. Major congrats!!! The wife and I still have a little bit of a wait. Are you going to post some pics once your Serenity is home? Video maybe? I’m so anxious to see more pics.
you lucky bugger! Many pictures please
