Gravity Rotor – All Together Now

Hey there Core-Techs. Things have been a little too quiet here for the last few days (entirely my fault), so I thought it’s well past the point when I should get something new up here for you fine folks. I’m assuming after the last two weeks this bit needs no introduction, but just in case, here it is: the fully-assembled gravity rotor and skid structure.

This bit is so utterly shiny, I won’t sully it with a whole lot of comments. Just, maybe, “wow”. Or, “oh my!”

On another note, please don’t interpret my silence as a lack of activity. Quite the opposite – things get quiet when things get busy around here. And let’s just say things have been really, really quiet lately (was that enigmatic enough?)

Anyway, enjoy the finished sculpt. I know I did.

Holy,,,,,,,, Cow! (not my first reaction to be sure). That is simply amazing. The whole thing looks so delicate yet so sturdy. I can’t wait to see it joined with the rest of the ship.

So what’s left? When you add up all the updates, it seems like she is almost done.

Kudos to the sculptor and QMx!

Are you going to have it setup with the gravity ring spinning?

    I didn’t know Serenity had a Stargate?

heh, I thought the same thing when I saw this. I’ll have to ask the guys who developed the original wireframes if this was parallel evolution or some kind of homage…

DV – Nope. It won’t spin. Too difficult to make it work reliably with a model of this complexity. However, we are working on a lighting effect that should simulate motion nicely…

That would be cool. I didn’t see any mechanism for that but wanted to know.

Seems it would be pretty difficult anyway to get something spinning that’s essentially ‘floating’ at that scale anyway.
