With all the love the Cerberus has been getting this week (thanks, everyone, for your questions and feedback), I was beginning to feel a little guilty. I mean, we’re here to talk about Serenity, right? And while I love talking about the Big Dog, we should probably get back to the main event – at least until those wallpapers are ready (must… work… faster!)
And what better way to do just that than another installment of “Name That Part”?
The rules are simple: First person to accurately identify the piece of Serenity in the picture below wins the prize. Last time we did this it took all of 15 minutes before Darth Viper accurately Named That Part – you folks are just too sharp! So this time I’ve tried to come up with something a bit more challenging. We’ll have to see if I was successful.
We’ll let the contest run until Monday, or until someone Names That Part. And we’re going to let folks who haven’t won yet get a shot at the prize this week – sorry DV, but I promise we’ll open things up again to everyone in a future contest. Also, employees, contractors or close personal friends of QMx are excluded as well (sorry, Sean!)
And as for the prize – last time around we offered up Zoe’s dog tags, so how about a set Mal’s tags this week?
And here’s your clue:

Do I get to play?
It’s the bottom of the reaction control tower, at the aft of the ship.
That would be the side panel of the reaction control tower.

Without digging out my blueprints I don’t know how to explain it, other than the fact that it wraps around the Firefly’s main drive on the aft portion of the ship. It supports that little nob on the top. I need to study more.
It’s supports the topmost part above the aft most extreme portion of Serenity. Does it even have a name…?
Ahhh. It’s the support for the reaction control tower! That’s what it is called.
I don’t know what to call it, but I think that it is hull plating on the underside of the bridge area forward of Serenity’s Logo. Still have no idea what to call it. A vent hatch for the armory?
Geez, you guys! Couldn’t you at least *pretend* this was a little challenging? Damn the guy who made those Serenity blueprints. Oh, wait…
So, Micjwelch was first with the correct answer! It is, indeed, the support strut for the reactor control tower. Mic – I’ll be pinging you shortly for your mailing address. And I’ll post the rest of the control tower pics tomorrow.
Sorry, Jim, you literally missed it by seconds this week.
DOH!
Congrats Mic!

Heh, I knew that one too. I would have been to late anyways even if I could win. It’ll be interesting to see what these pieces look like when they’re painted.
